WWE 2K20 broke (even more than usual) on the fist day of 2020, with players reporting that it has been unplayable since the new year ticked over.
That’s right, the moment that clocks struck midnight and rang in the new decade on January 1st 2020, WWE 2K20 stopped working for a majority of players around the world.
In the year 2020.
The year that is literally in the game’s title.
Trying to start any game mode from the menu has been causing the game to crash and display an error message. While some players seem to have had issues with all game modes, and others only describe it affecting certain ones, the bug seems to be a problem for a vast majority of customers (who presumably paid good money for the game).
What makes this so insulting rather than just a funny peculiarity is that WWE 2K20 has been plagued with inexcusable bugs and glitches since its launch in October; with the game’s graphics, AI and physics behaving unpredicatbly at best. For fans of WWE and the WWE 2K series, this is just the latest of several slaps in the face (a face that will likely glitch and disappear leaving a pair of floating eyeballs and a hellish grin).
Although the 2K Support Twitter account tweeted out that a fix had been released yesterday evening, the replies are filled with players who are still experiencing the crashes.
This issue has been resolved. Please make sure to restart your #WWE2K20 game to automatically download the fix. If you continue experiencing issues, please open a support ticket here: https://t.co/E9ETwypbuw. Thank you again for your patience!

If you’re still having problems yourself, make sure the game has downloaded the latest updates, or if that doesn’t work, some people seem to have bypassed the problem by setting the date on their PC or console back to 2019.
Maybe this is a sign that you shouldn’t rush out a new game every year, WWE 2K.
