The voice actor behind Half-Life’s mysterious bureaucrat known as G-Man uploads a video, letting us hear the character speak for the first time in 12 years.
Mike Shapiro, the voice of the G-Man, posted the short video to his Twitter account yesterday; delivering a sinister monologue over images of the character.
This is the first time we’ve heard anything new from the interdimensional overseer since Half-Life 2: Episode 2 back in 2007, but hearing his voice again now, it’s like he was never gone. The distinctively odd speech pattern, with its peculiar emphases, rhythm and tone, is just as ominous as ever. Check out the video in the tweet below:

The full monologue is as follows: “Should old acquaintances be forgot, then, after so much time? Some things can prove difficult to remember. See you in the new year, and do prepare for… consequences.”
He is of course hinting at the upcoming VR-exclusive Half-Life Alyx, which was announced in late November and is due for release in March of this year. You can check out the trailer below, and watch until the end to get a look the G-Man’s new design.
