The PlayStation site confirmed the removal with the note: “SIE will also be removing Cyberpunk 2077 from PlayStation Store until further notice.”
The Xbox One version of Cyberpunk 2077 has also had a litany of technical issues. On Friday morning, Microsoft said it also would provide refunds to customers who had downloaded the game via the Microsoft Store. “While we know the developers at CD Projekt RED have worked hard to ship Cyberpunk 2077 in extremely challenging circumstances, we also realize that some players have been unhappy with the current experience on older consoles,” reads a tweet from the Xbox Support Twitter account, which included a link for requesting a refund.
The game from Polish developer CD Projekt RED was released worldwide on Dec. 10, and won praise from critics for the PC version of the title, especially for its expansive and immersive play and storyline.
However, the game’s performance on consoles has elicited stringent criticism from the press as well as consumers on social media. Gamers have highlighted how the PS4, Xbox One and even PS5 versions of the game would routinely crash during gameplay littered with bugs.
On Dec. 14, CD Projekt RED tweeted its apologies for the technical issues related to Cyberpunk 2077, and pledged to release a series of patches for the game to “fix bugs and crashes, and improve the overall experience.” The company has already released some patches and plans to release more in January and February.
