These are Heat Vision‘s latest recommendations for what you can stream, play and read in March.

WHAT TO WATCH

Pacific Rim: The Black (March 4 – Netflix)

Pacific Rim: The Black offers a new anime title to Netflix’s library, based on the first two live-action Pacific Rim films. The series is produced by Legendary Television, animated by Japanese studio Polygon Pictures. Greg Johnson and Marvel Comics writer Craig Kyle will serve as showrunners.

Raya and the Last Dragon (March 5 – Disney+)

Walt Disney Animation Studios debuts its epic Southeast Asian-inspired adventure this March. Set in the fantasy world of Kumandra, there once was a time when humans and dragons lived together in harmony. When an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. 500 years later, it is up to Raya to track down the last dragon and reunite Kumandra — a land once united and now torn apart without dragons or their harmonious magic.

Boss Level (March 5 – Hulu)

Directed by Joe Carnahan, the action-packed film features a Groundhog Day-style time-loop with Frank Grillo playing a former special-forces op who faces an endless stream of assassins every morning. Mel Gibson and Naomi Watts co-star in Hulu original.

City of Ghosts (March 5 – Netflix)

Netflix Family’s latest offering is a documentary-style, animated series that follows Zelda, a kid from Los Angeles who forms The Ghost Club with a bunch of friends. Each episode is based on and voiced by real residents of different neighborhoods, offering viewers a way to learn about different parts of the city while members of the club “communicate” with ghosts of the past.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (March 18 – HBO Max)

Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated extended director’s cut finally drops this March — possibly offering redemption for the 2017 film that originally bombed at the box office. Often referred to as the “Snyder Cut,” the superhero film featuring Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman is meant to represent Snyder’s intentions before he left the film’s production and Joss Whedon took over, completing the film as an uncredited director.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (March 19 – Disney+)

Following the finale of WandaVision on March 5, Marvel fans will be treated to the long-awaited Falcon and The Winter Soldier series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the title characters. Similar to WandaVision, the show picks up after the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Invincible (March 26 – Amazon Prime Video)

From Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman comes an animated series about the teen son of a superhero who looks into his father’s legacy. Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons will provide voices for the series

The Irregulars (March 26 – Netflix)

A British crime drama set in 19th-century London, The Irregulars follows a group of misfits who work to solve supernatural crimes for Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes. Created by Tom Bidwell, the eight-episode series hits the streamer near the end of the month.

Godzilla vs. Kong (March 31 on HBO Max)

The two most famous movie monsters of all time will battle it out near the end of the month on HBO Max. Directed by Adam Wingard, the film is a sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island and is the fourth film in Legendary’s MonsterVerse.

WHAT TO PLAY

3 Out of 10: Season One (March 3 – Nintendo Switch)

Scrolling through the Nintendo eStore, it might be easy to overlook 3 Out of 10: Season One because it’s a playable animated sitcom, and that might throw some people off. But there is a great time to be had with this narrative game from Shovelworks Studios (that drops on Nintendo Switch March 3), which spoofs the video game industry itself. The title derives from the idea that a team of developers may never make a game that scores higher than a 3 out of 10, so you would be right in assuming there is a lot more humor and absurdity to come.

Sea of Solitude (March 4 – Switch)

The directors’ cut of Cornelia Geppert’s action-adventure game Sea of Solitude drops on Switch March 4, featuring a customizable photo mode and gyroscope integration that further bring the fantastical drowned world to life. The original game was nominated in the Games for Impact category at The Game Awards in 2019 and won Most Significant Impact at the Games for Change Awards in 2020.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time (March 12 – PS5, XSX, Switch)

The brand new Crash title marks the eighth main installment in the Crash Bandicoot series, where elements of time travel and players being able to seek adventure as either Crash or Coco Bandicoot offer an engaging return to the series. In Crash Bandicoot 4, Crash has to find four powerful Quantum Masks that must be united to restore order to the multiverse.

WHAT TO READ

Later by Stephen King (March 2 – Hard Case Crime)

King delivers both a terrifying and touching story about Jamie Conklin, the son of a struggling single mother born with an unnatural ability to see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. When an NYPD detective draws Jamie into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave, he learns the cost of his gift. The publisher describes the novel as “echoes of King’s classic novel It.” Later marks King’s third book he has written for Hard Case Crime.

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn (March 9 – William Morrow)

Described as “The Imitation Game meets Code Girls,” Quinn tells a World War II story of three female code breakers at Bletchley Park who must confront a traitor attempting to set them against each other in a betrayal that continues after the war ends. The novel also includes cameos of historical figures including Winston Churchill, Ian Fleming, Alan Turing and Kate Middleton’s Grandmother Valerie Glassborrow.

The Fall by Jared Muralt (March 23 – Image Comics)

Jared Muralt’s The Fall is a great next read for those thrilled by apocalyptic adventures found in Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead or moved by the emotional journey of a father and son in Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. In The Fall, a father who has recently lost his wife must face a world shaken by an economic, social, political and health crisis.
