Jim Wilson first appeared in the Incredible Hulk #131 back in 1970. Jim Wilson was a young black orphan kid stealing purses to feed himself when he first ran into the Hulk. Jim becomes friends with the Hulk after sharing from his last bit of food a candy bar. At this time the Hulk and Bruce Banner were functioning as separate entities and the Hulk asked that Jim Wilson bring Banner to him so he could smash Banner. Instead Jim is caught spying and winds up teaming up with Banner, Iron Man, and the military to set a trap for the Hulk.
Luckily the Hulk with his short memory span befriends the orphaned Jim Wilson. Jim becomes the Hulk's friend through the 1970's replacing for the most part, Rick Jones, who would not take back his position as the Hulk's sidekick till the 1980's.
Jim Wilson reappeared in the 90's only to die a few years later in the Incredible Hulk #420 (August 1994) of AIDs.
