Jack the Ripper is a major antagonist in the movie From Hell (2001) based on the graphic novel of the same name by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell and directed by the Hughes Brothers. The film posits Stephen Knight's theory that the murders were part of a conspiracy to conceal the birth of an illegitimate royal baby fathered by Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence, offering Sir William Gull as the murderer.
In the Elseworlds novel Batman: Two Faces, the Joker takes the role of both Jack the Ripper and Mister Hyde, becoming the exact opposite of Batman.
The book Gotham by Gaslight features Batman in the 1880s, fighting Jack the Ripper when the serial killer comes to Gotham City. Unfortunately one of the main suspects is Bruce Wayne himself. The cast includes Commissioner Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and Princess Julie Madison. The Joker makes a cameo appearance as a bluebeard who tries to kill himself with strychnine poison, but is left with a paralyzed rictus grin.
