Detroit, Michigan Birthplace of Luther Manning, Deathlok
Colonel Luther Manning, born in Detroit, Michigan, a soldier who, after being near-fatally injured, awakens in the body of the experimental Deathlok cyborg built by Harlan Ryker in a post-apocalyptic future. He escapes from Simon Ryker's control,-Astonishing Tales #25 (Aug. 1974)- although he dreams he has regained his humanity.-Marvel Fanfare #4 (Sept. 1982)- He battles the evil corporate and military regimes that have taken over the United States, while simultaneously struggling not to lose his humanity.
