A frequent nemesis of Captain America, Frenchman Georges Batroc first appeared in Tales of Suspense #75—which is significant for this issue also contains the very first appearance of Steve Rogers’s primary love interest, Sharon Carter. The two have clashed many times since, but each time Captain America walks away with the victory.

He holds the title “Batroc the Leaper” because of his extrodinary skills with his feet, and he is an expert at the French art of kickboxing, called Savate. He is a self-described Olympic weight lifter and is able to leap vast distances. Batroc usually hires out as a mercenary, and he crossed paths with Captain America in these notable issues: · Captain America #105- Here Captain America shows that he is not only a match for Batroc, but he can also handle the Living Laser and Swordsman as well. · Captain America #130- Teaming with Porcupine and Whirlwind, he formed Batroc’s Brigade—but again lost to his archenemy. · Captain America #150- Leading a group of martial-artists as the new Batroc’s Brigade, he was hired by the Stranger, but was double-crossed and ended up allying with Captain America and the Falcon to defeat him.
