Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Collection Comment: Ive been on a nostalgic 70's/80's rampage this year, gobbling up as much toys as i can remember that i wish i had when i was a kid. Transformers was definitely one of them on the top of my list and this DVD collection is a must have for any fan of the series. They just dont make cartoons like that used to. This collection is complete, thorough and neatly packaged, much better quality than the other collections i have seen, and at a price anyone can afford. Transaction was secure and shipping was fast. Time to call up the old buddies over for a marathon on my new big screen TV i got for Xmas! Customer Rating: Summary: More Than Meets the Eye Comment: Ok, so for those doubters out there, you can relax. This IS the ULTIMATE in Transformers DVD's. Everything you can want in a box set is right here. First lets take alook at a few of the down sides and get those out of the way, because the Pros totaly out weigh the cons. First, the disks come packed in little plastic baggie like bags inside sleeve pages in the art book, which during shipping, the disks get a little scratched, nothing a lil buffing won't take out. Now because of this, I had to take 15 slim clam shell thin cases to place the disks in, but no problem, they stil place nicely in the tin. Now comes the Pro's. First when I open the box I was treated to something I wasn't prepared for, a brown hard paper bag with the Transformers logo on it, so you can place whats under the bag in it as a gift. And whats under the bag you ask? A brown matching box, again with the Transformers logo blasted on it, it looks awesome. Inside the box is the treasure I had been waiting for, the Transformers tin with the Autobot logo on it. Inside the tin is abunch of goodies, like...an awesome Autobot logo keychain (rubber for toughness). Under that we have Postcards with some awesome art work of famous Transformers. And then the grandprize, the art book, and inside the art book are the 15 disks, 14 of them have the episodes and the Transforermers animated Movie and the 15th (or the first disk anyway) is the secial feature disk. Now for some questions that happen to appear on here... Are they in English? Yes. If you change the auto on your remote/DVD player, you are treated to the classic cartoon of old from when you were a kid. Is the animated Movie in English? Again, yes. Same thing, just change the Language on your player. Mine does this for me. How hard are the menus to read? First, the menus are easy to master. And when you go to the Episode guide, the names are in both (I believe)Mandarin AND English. Are these the episodes from the Rhino collection? Never being able to see this collection, I would not know. I do know there have been a few episodes where the opening and ending credits were different then they should be, however this has not interfered in my viewing experiance. The art book is also in Mandarin however, but the stats on the back of the art pages are still really cool. And I managed to be able to fit all 15 slim cases into the tin so I can place my Transformers DVD tin on my shelf along with my other tv box sets. With very little wrong with this set and the fact that we were never treated to a proper Transformer set, this is for the Ultimate Transformer Fan. I am giving this the Geeking Out seal of approval with 5 Energon Cubes out of a possible 5. Watching my all-time favorite childhood cartoon made feel like, and a couple of times act like a little kid who is glued to the tv for that special show they have to watch! Yes the main menus are in Chinese, but the audio can be changed into English. And fear not my friends, they are the voices that we remeber as young kids and the sound effects are as we remember them as well. Some may complain about the pouches that the disc are in. But Wen-Wen Toys, provides a little plastic bag for the disc to sit in and then you can place it into the pouch scratch free. This item is the one to get for under what it would cost you to buy them all from Rhino. Customer Rating: Summary: If you ever wished your vehicle could transform into a robot, then buy this DVD set! Comment: I was a little hesistant in buying this set because it's an import from China. I was expecting the menu to be entirely in Chinese and difficult to use, but because I couldn't find a DVD set in English, I just went ahead and bought it... ...and I'm so glad I did! First off, the menu is not hard to use at all! You just navigate using different parts of an Autobot insignia, and it's really simple. Each episode title is in both Chinese and English, and you can see still shots from each episode from the menu. Picture quality is good, as is the sound quality. It uses all the original American voice actors, but if you want to hear what Soundwave sounds like while speaking Chinese (which is flippin' awesome, by the way), you also have that option. Don't have a heart attack if you pop in a disc and they start speaking in Chinese. Just press the language button on your DVD remote; it's that easy. If you're worried about the menu navigation or whether or not it has the original voices, you can certainly relax. And this is NOT a bootleg! As far as I know, the episodes are mostly in order, I think just two of them are switched around, but it's not a big deal. The whole set comes in a cool embossed tin, and it comes with sweet artwork (with bios of each Transformer, which is unfortunately in Chinese), and a keychain. However, each disc comes in a super crappy plastic sleeve. I just bought a set of clear DVD cases for $2, and that problem was solved. Another cool thing is that this set comes with the 1986 movie. (That movie is from '86, right?) If you're tired of watching crappy boot-legged Transformers episodes on YouTube, then buy this set! If you can get the whole G1 series for less than $100, what's there to think about? You won't be disappointed! More Reviews
