There are plenty of pictures for him to study. It is full of illustrations and facts and keeps him interested. That isn't easy for an 8 year old who's starting to get picky about everything. PS--The pages, printing, binding, and hard cover are all extremely good quality, a lot of care was put into the production of this volume.
