Hugh Jackman is looking forward to playing Wolverine again this time as a solo movie. It might hit theatres as early as 2008.

X3 will be on DVD in early October.

Jackman has been quoted as saying, "For me as an actor, it's an amazing part," Jackman said. "I think Wolverine, in, not just the comic-book genre, but any kind of action movie, is one of the great parts. I love playing him, and it's a challenge."

The solo film will likely deal with Wolverine's past and could bring back such X-Men villains as Stryker and Sabretooth. Whatever the story, Jackman said it's important that the Wolverine movie is not simply as a stand-in for X-Men 4.

"I want to make a piece that's in every way -- stylistically and character-wise -- that's different, that shows new stuff," Jackman said.

"For me, if you're going to play a role and you're going to do it again, you want to do it better, you want to take it further and you want to show more," Jackman said. "And in the script, I think we had the best script to start with of any of three."

Latino Review put up a script review of David Benioff's draft, but it was recently taken down by Fox. The script was about Wolverine's past before Weapon X and it featured Sabretooth and Stryker as main villains. The draft included X-Men characters John Wraith, the Blob and Forearm as Weapon X operatives. It also featued Silver Fox and Beak as supporting characters. They gave the script a B+ grade. How much of this script will show up in the final draft is still unknown.

David Benioff was hired to pen the screenplay for Wolverine. According to Hugh Jackman, as of September 1, 2006, Benioff was working on the third draft of the screenplay for the film.

Brett Ratner is reportedly negotiating with the studio to take the helm of Wolverine after impressing the producers with his direction of X-Men: The Last Stand. Possible returning actors include Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut  and Tyler Mane as Sabretooth..

After a junket for The Prestige, Hugh Jackman discussed plot details, and has worked with Benioff constantly on the script. Jackman is fully involved on the project and has become producer as well as star.

As of October 15, 2006, the script is finished, and Jackman indicates there will be a year before shooting. He has denied rumours that it will be based on Chris Claremont's and Frank Miller's Wolverine limited series. He hopes to hire a director in November 2006.

GO HUGH! u cant lose with a guy tht into his character. bring back sabretooth! it kinda sucked how the brotherhood was all killed off in the first film. with magneto and it bringing back actors from the x-men films and associting themselves with them without being a sequel, this could be the dawn of a new age of crossover films.
