Watched Real Steel last night with Hugh Jackman. I highly recommend this movie. It was a lot of fun. Hugh Jackman is one of the best actors out there today. He's about the only one of the last decade or so I find convincing in tough guy roles. Jackman has that classic Hollywood sense about him, and on top of that he keeps in shape like my other favorite actor Sylvester Stallone.
Check out this clip of the dancing robot. One of my favorite aspects of the movie was the comical stuff they had the robots doing like the dancing and the funny antics in the ring.
One thing I found more interesting about the plot than I thought originally was the relationship between the kid and Jackman's character Charlie. I thought from the trailer mistakenly he was just going to wind up befriending the boy to have a chance with his mother and be some kind of mentor figure, but in fact he's the kid's father. Charlie had left the boy with his mother and hadn't seen the kid till the mother dies years later. A pretty basic story yet it was not enough to get to care about the characters.
Even though it was robots in the ring they still managed to really make this movie about heart, and they managed to capture a bit of that magic from the Karate Kid and Rocky movies. Rent or buy it. It's worth seeing more than once. Good family flick too!
