Check this out it's pretty interesting. Nolan talks about Superman, and only one more Batman movie to go.

The topic at the Batcave on Monday night was the future of that other superhero — you know, the one from Metropolis. “It’s very exciting; we have a fantastic story,” Christopher Nolan said while sipping tea in the sleek editing suite that fills the converted garage next to his Hollywood home. “And we feel we can do it right. We know the milieu, if you will, we know the genre and how to get it done right.”

Quote:
“A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that’s what I know how to do,” Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. “Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”

Quote:
“I went to the studio with the analogy of ‘I want to cast the way they did in 1978 with 'Superman,”’ where they had [Marlon] Brando and Glenn Ford and Ned Beatty and all these fantastic actors in even small parts, which was an exotic idea for a superhero movie at the time. It really paid off too. As a kid watching ‘Superman,’ it seemed enormous and I realized later by looking at it that a lot of that was actually the casting, just having these incredibly talented people and these characterizations. And Marlon Brando is the first guy up playing Superman’s dad. It’s incredible.”

That is a blatant lie Batman and Superman have existed in the same universe dating back to the 1940's. I think it is a mistake to ignore that fact. I'm not saying that they need to be staples in each others movies but how about having at least a couple references to them existing in the same universe would be nice. Instead of that Nolan is completley ignoring that fact. That is one of the reasons in my opinion that Marvel is way ahead of the curve when it comes to the movies.

Btw Nolan saying that pretty much kills the chance of us Ever getting a JLA film I'd say. Maybe my mind will change once I see this film . But something tells me he is gonna try and make the Superman film he wants as opposed to what the fans want.

I think Nolan's approach makes filming a movie a better chance of realism though Floyd. I agree that other heroes existing makes for more excitement and cool effects but on the other hand I guess it could hinder some of the expressions of the common citizens in the movie. For instance in Superman the Movie when people first see Supes there is all these people acting crazy when they first see a guy flying. If other superheroes existed they'd just yawn and go on.

Plus if the audience thinks Superman is the only superhero on the planet then that might give an increased level of jeopardy for Supes.

I'm not saying you are wrong. I'm just trying to guess at what Nolan is thinking. I'm just guessing at his logic.

I suppose I can't really judge a film until I've seen it. I just wish someday we will get a flick about Superman where the filmakers acknowledge that all the DC heroes exist within one universe.

Yeah it would be neat to say have Superman in the JLA Satellite with all the heroes or something. If I put them in the same movie I'd create some reason for them all to team up against Superman. Maybe mind controlled heroes or something, and make a huge fight.
