Superiority Complex Special #1: The Squad

Falcon, Jon Wilson, sits alone in a dark room at a computer staring at the screen. looking at old newspaper and internet news photos reminiscing.
. The steps of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the world press, thank you for coming today. This is the dawn of a new age for all of humanity. Standing behind me are the three men who will undoubtedly be renowned in history books for changing our way of life. Ladies and Gentlemen I present Falcon, the spirit of America. Superion and his brother Maximus, these two are the pinnacle of what human evolution could be. Together these three will reshape our destiny. Now I will open the floor for questions....."
That day I remember it so well. It was the proudest moment of my life. Me the Spirit of America. Momma would've been proud. The uniforms were something that needed work. I can't believe they got Superion to where that cape and Maximus, why they put him in cammo pants and a full face mask I'll never figure out. We were so young everything was going to be better simply because of us.
September 13th 2001. Two days after the tragedies of 9\11.
" In the wake of the attacks we as a country experienced just two days ago I, President George W. Bush have signed an Executive Order for the creation and maintaining of a Meta Human Strike force to operate with autonomy but with the blessing of the American Government. My fellow Americans this is the way to a more secure America for our children and our childrens children. The Squad will be lead by Falcon and will be rotating group of the best and brightest our country has to offer. Sleep easy America for we are protected."
June 27th 2003.
We were on a routine mission in the Arctic Ocean, an icebreaker had sprung a leak in their hull and was going down. 146 men on board were hoping and praying for us to get there in time and save them. I don't even want to remember what happened next.
The headline of the article on his computer screen says it all. " 146 DEAD! Dissent in The squad Superion kills his own Brother!!!"
The Big Guy was never the same. He used bravado and boasting to make himself seem invincible so no one would know he was in pain.
June 2009. The Invasion.
We arrived in Nighthaven almost too late for anyone to make it out of there alive. The beasts were nearly unstoppable. Lost a good friend that day.
In the heat and flames of battlefield Nighthaven Falcon watches as Superion uses nearly all of his strength to lift one of the Cloven behemoths off of Earth and into space. " Superion stop right now!!"
"Sorry Falcon I'm the only one that can do this you guys should be able to handle the rest after I'm gone."
"Superion you cannot sacrifice yourself that's an order!! Dammit listen to me!!!!"
" Falcon it's time for me to join my brother sorry buddy but it's time to go."
Obviously it wasn't. that S.O.B had me worried though. If it wasn't for him I would'nt be sitting here today.
September 2009. Kurash
The Kurash mission. I saw it there and I should have done something but I didn't. I watched my best friend murder an entire village of unarmed civillians. He shrugs at me and says "Woops".
I let it go, I shouldn't have . I should have spoke up, done something we could have put him out of commissin for a while maybe on ice like they did for Big Blue back in the Forty's. But I kept my damn mouth shut. Then he turned his back on us and left.
That man is not the same Superion I was proud to call my friend my brother in arms. Now look at him rampaging accross the country destroying military bases and killing indescriminately.
It's time to start from scratch, time to rebuild, time to drop him where he stands once and for all.
Jon Wilson looks down at the keyboard, he types one word then presses enter. The screen pops to life images and maps popping up in windows. The top of the screen says one word, TORCH. this is where the Government would have recruited the replacements for The Squad, Now Falcon will use the program to build a team to topple a God.
