“I have to find out who those cyber terrorists are” Raptor says near tears “I was very close to some of the casualties.”
“I know the feeling” Talon said “my father was killed that is why Shadow Hawk and I do this.”
“Talon…” Sebastian warned still wearing the Cyber Hawk suit “event though we’re on the same side it’s not wise to reveal too much.”
“Those robot drones seemed familiar to me” Raptor said changing the subject “but I can’t place them.”
{Running facial recognition software on Gray Mist and Ashigaru} the Sentinel’s computer voice announced through wall mounted speakers {98% positive identification on Gray Mist}
The three costumed warriors stared at the computer screen as pictures and information popped up. The cyborg Gray Mist’s picture was beside that of a woman in a lab coat wearing a nametag carrying the name Vicki.
“I know that woman” Raptor confirmed to herself “that’s why the robot drones seemed familiar.”
“What do you mean?” Sebastian asked.
“Victoria Vapor was working on a project for Sojourn about fifteen years ago. My moth…I mean Sylvia Martin had scratched the project because the robot drones seemed to develop minds of their own and became almost impossible to control. The drones were supposed the serve as multifunction automated workers, (M.A.Ws), doing anything from construction to acting as bodyguards for the rich. After Vicki was fired she disappeared off the grid.”
“Well somebody must be building the drones” Talon surmised “what other companies have the technology for this kind of thing?”
Sebastian entered another search into his web browser just as the Sentinel spoke again {Ashigaru’s identity 100% confirmed}.
“Interesting” Sebastian said as he looked at the information and began reading aloud “Nicholas Nomad, Chief of Security for CyberTech Industries.”
“Sojourn’s rival” Raptor said “they must be the ones building the drones.”

Shadow Hawk lets his night-vision pierce through the darkness of the night lighting up the entire apartment complex. On his right, the crusader known as the Rook crouches down remaining perfectly quiet despite the heavy metal of his armor. On his left sits the winged angel Seraphim, the alter ego of DI Erin Cross.
Due to the personal interest he has in taking out the Greek, John is very uneasy at having two holy warriors with him. They might try and stop him from exacting his revenge. He would have to make sure that when the time comes they will not get in his way.
“The Greek’s in there alright” Shadow Hawk says to his companions “my thermal scanners have picked up the same heat signature that I detected trace amounts of at Carrion Castle.”
“You can tell who people are by their heat signatures?” the Rook asked uneasily.
“Yes, but don’t worry Count your secret is safe with me” Shadow Hawk says smiling now as he caught the knight off guard with this revelation.
“Let’s just get in there and bloody do this” Seraphim says angrily “I’m getting bored already.”
Both she and the Rook draw their blades casting light all around them. Shadow Hawk swears under his breath. He prefers to do things more discreetly. Not go charging in with targets painted on their chests. The Rook charges toward the building holding his sword straight out in front of him, tip forward as if it’s a jousting lance instead of a blade. Seraphim stretches her wings and glides in, her flaming sword leaving a trail of smoke in her wake.
Swearing out loud this time Shadow Hawk follows at a sprint, activating his wrist blades as he does so. Then gunshots ring out as Marcus Deimus, the Greek, squeezes off six rounds from his Israeli Desert Eagle. The first two shots ricochet off the Rook’s steel plated armor. The next shot strikes Seraphim in the left wing causing her to lose control and enter a dive. Her healing factor kicks in repairing the appendage just in time for her to level off six feet from the ground.
The last three are aimed straight at Shadow Hawk. He somersaults out of the way of the first two but the third one strikes him in the ankle as if the Greek knew which way he would dodge. By now the Rook and Seraphim have reached the Greek and cornered him where the building makes an L shaped turn.
“You two have nothing on me” Marcus Deimus laughs “what proof do you have that I have broken the law?”
“Do you not remember kidnapping the Count of Carrion?” the Rook asks his temper rising.
“His word against mine” the Greek replies “and mine is backed up by Russian money. The best lawyers and all that” he says waving his hand dismissively.
“We’ll let the court decide” Seraphim says grabbing his wrist with her free hand “you are coming with us.”
“No he’s not” Shadow Hawk shouts from the darkness behind them “he’s mine.”
“Who are you?” the Greek demands “I don’t even know what I could have possibly done to you.”
Shadow Hawk removes his mask and looks into Marcus’ eyes “do you not see the resemblance? You killed my father, and now justice is mine!”
This gives the Greek pause as he recognizes the eyes of the police chief he shot dead back in the States “no I have to go to jail” he pleads upon seeing the murderous hatred in John Dark’s eyes.
“Not an option” Shadow Hawk says as he launches an explosive hawk-star from his gauntlet then dives backwards behind the cover of a soda machine.
The hawk-star hit the Greek square in the chest and exploded blowing a hole right through the assassin’s torso. The fiery inferno that followed set fire to Seraphim’s wings and the flames danced eerily across the Rook’s armor causing the temperature inside to rise by 50 degrees.
Seraphim screams in agony as her wings begin to repair themselves. The Rook has to remove his helmet in order to get fresh air into his lungs and allow the heat to escape his body. They both stare at Shadow Hawk in disbelief at what he had just done. Anger welled inside them and they took a step towards him, swords drawn.
“What the hell was that? You could have killed us” the Rook yelled.
“I knew your armor would protect you and Seraphim has her healing ability” Shadow Hawk said defiantly “besides you were going to let him walk. The courts wouldn’t have done anything to him; he would’ve gotten out on a technicality.”
“But that’s not how heroes operate” Seraphim argued “you can’t go around killing people because then you become no better than they are.”
“I never claimed to be a hero” Shadow Hawk retorted “that’s why the police call me a vigilante.” __________________
