Since Bono and I are alternating the Captain Midnight/Shadow Hawk/Raven stories, during the interrim I'm trying to catch up on my other characters so I'll be doing Rovers during the times Bono is writing his part of the story

I hope you guys enjoy it...

Something was nudging him eastward. He had only been in Arizona for a few months and there was still much more to learn of his heritage. But there was no denying the spirits wanted him for something big. So here he was, Billy Badlands, riding down the interstate on his Indian motorcycle. His spirit guide evaporated into the air promising to meet back up with him when he arrived at his destination.

He packed his hatchets into his saddlebags along with an animal bone necklace of his mother’s he had found on the reservation in her hut. The only two possessions he cared about. The only two he thought he would need on this journey. After days of riding he found himself on the east coast only thirty miles out from Boreas City.

Billy had never even heard of this city before, why did he care if something was going to happen to it? He shook his head trying to clear out those thoughts. He was part Navajo after all. Preserving nature was his duty regardless of where that happened to take him.

“Finally, the city limits” he muttered to himself with clenched teeth as he passed the sign that read ‘Welcome to Boreas City, Home of the Boreads.’

Remembering his history Billy wondered at the sign for a few minutes. The Boreads were two winged brothers who accompanied Jason on his quest for the Golden Fleece. They were the sons of the wind god Boreas. How curious that a city would be named after such a minor Greek god he mused to himself.

Then he remembered his sports and it dawned on him that the Boreads was also a minor league baseball team. He’d seen them play once when they were up against the Little Wolf Cubs, his own hometown minor league team. But at the time he had no idea where they were from, just that they were rivals.

The thought of Little Wolf, Montana made him somewhat homesick. He hadn’t been back there since he decided to go on his excursion to Arizona. After this was all over, he promised himself he would go back for a visit. Now he only had to make sure he survived this ordeal that he was about to face.

When he rode onto Main Street he saw a winged man talking to another man in a long coat. Could the winged Boreads really have existed? Could this be one of their descendants? No it was impossible he thought. But then he would have thought spirit animals weren’t real either if he didn’t now have one. He pulled over to the side of the road and put down the kick stand.

Then he got his hatchets out of his saddle bags and put them in the holsters at his belt before walking over to the two men. As he got closer he picked up bits of their conversation. But he had no idea what a Bodach was?

“Scuse me gentlemen” he said interrupting their conversation “you two need some help capturing this Bodach?”

“Who are you?” Seamus asked reaching for the hellfire revolver resting in his shoulder holster.

Gabriel Jones placed a hand on Seamus’ shoulder halting his movements “don’t be so hasty. I think he’s here for the same thing we are.”

Then Gabriel took a step forward extending his hand in friendship for the newcomer. Billy took it and the two men shook hands before the conversation resumed in a friendlier tone. But it only got as far as the introductions before another figure arrived on the scene.

“What do we have here?” Ethan McKnight asked walking over to the small group.

The four men stood out like a sore thumb to all those that passed by. One knight in full armor and a large sword strapped to his back, an angel also carrying a large sword, a mysterious man in a trench coat, and a Navajo warrior covered in war paint. Most people sped up as they passed by not wanting the strangers to notice them but others slowed down rubbernecking as long as possible before the car horns behind them spurred them on their way.

“Let’s regroup back at my office fellas” Seamus said pointing northwest.

Only moments later the four men were sitting around the ‘Shamus Investigations’ office discussing the situation “what I don’t understand” Billy says “is why we were all led to this location?”

“The Bodach is the key. We catch it and we find out what is happening” Seamus put in “just look at the facts. The Rook’s prophecy foretelling this ever since the Crusades, the War Angel’s visions from God, the Coyote’s spirit guide, and the mere fact that a Bodach’s mere existence means disaster is coming.”

“But what is this disaster? The crusaders’ prophecy was very vague” Ethan says in despair.

“As was my visions” Gabriel chimed in deeply disturbed “but we will overcome it. We wouldn’t have been brought together if we didn’t stand a chance.”
