Still a working title. Not sure what to call this group yet. Anyway here is the first issue.

Somewhere in Western Europe…

[This castle has been in my family for generations yet before now I’ve never stepped foot over its threshold. I didn’t even know about it until after my parents died and the family lawyer called me into her office to read over their Will. The first thing that caught my eye upon entering the Great Hall was the tapestries hanging everywhere. Most of them either depicted knights fighting in the Crusades or the family crest.

The crest or Coat of Arms that I found out it was more appropriately called, contains a castle and a bird. After looking through some of the books in the library I discovered that they were both rooks, reminded me of the chess piece or the card game. In one of the books I even found the blueprints for the castle. Discovered it has a labyrinth of mazes beneath it that all lead to a secret room.

Tomorrow I will look for this secret lair. But tonight I am going to content myself with finding the kitchen and the bedroom. The hallways are very drafty, so much so I hear the wind whistling through cracks in the stone. Eventually I find the kitchen and it is fully stocked yet I see no servants. I hesitate for a moment thinking this stuff outdated but looking in the cupboard I find the food is still months away from their expiration dates. So I whip myself up a meal of carved meats, cheese, and bread. Heck I even found an icebox stuffed with water, milk, and wine.

After that I snuggled into the king sized canopy bed in the master suite and slept like a baby. ]

Boreas City, USA…

The modern skyscraper towers over most other buildings in the city. And near the top sets the office of a paranormal investigator named Seamus Flannigan. Not a very rich man by any means but the private detective earns enough to pay the rent on his office space and put some food in his stomach. Though helping little old ladies find lost earrings that some playful ghost moved around her house wasn’t as glamorous as he thought it’d be when he started the business.

The phone on the corner of his oak desk started to ring. Seamus leaned over and grabbed the receiver with his normal hand. It took him awhile and a few phones and dishes before he realized his left cybernetic arm was too strong to handle small and delicate things without crushing them to bits.

“Seamus Flannigan, Private Investigator, what’s the nature of your disturbance?”

“Are you the ghost hunter?”

“I prefer Paranormal Investigator ma’am, but yes that’s me.”

“Oh excuse me Mr. High and Mighty. Maybe I’ll just take my business elsewhere.”

“Please ma’am, don’t be so rash. I apologize if my tone offended you. How can I help you today?”

Seamus was still getting the hang of handling older people with a bit more care. Sometimes he comes off as grouchy and that usually costs him the client. He didn’t know investigating the supernatural required customer service skills. But he was finally learning how to talk to people.

After a few minutes on the phone he had all the information he needed. He grabbed his hellfire revolver from his bottom desk drawer and slipped it into his shoulder holster. Something told him this time was different. That he wasn’t just dealing with a mischievous spirit. Then he got his long brown duster from the coat rack and slipped it on. It was a little warm outside but he needed to conceal his big gun and his metal arm. Then he grabbed his Atlanta Braves baseball cap and covered his disheveled hair.

Just outside of Boreas City…

He kneels down to pray inside the old chapel. His visions have been getting worse of late. Why was his soul tortured on a daily basis? He had to find out and so here he was trying to get an audience with the big man himself.

Gabriel Jones recited the same prayer he has spoken every night for the last six months “oh Lord, why has thou forsaken me in my time of need? Why did you take Caroline away? Oh Lord I ask that you let me in on your wisdom so that I may see what you have planned for me. These visions of demons dancing in my head are unpleasant and disturbing. Why do I see them? Is this a sign of the apocalypse? Please Lord answer me for I fear if something doesn’t change soon then I may take my own life.”

His prayers seemed nothing more than the ramblings of a madman to an outsider but this time someone heard his prayers and answered. A blinding light filled the church causing Gabriel to shield his eyes with his hand. Then as if on wings of silver a man floated down from the heavens and stood before Gabriel Jones.

“The Lord has heard your prayers and I have come to deliver a message. The visions you have been having will come to pass unless you intervene.”

“What do you mean the demons? But what of Caroline, will I ever see her again?”

“Caroline didn’t leave you because of the visions. She left for reasons that cannot be revealed to you yet. Not until you complete your mission.”

“Mission?”

“I the archangel Michael present you, Gabriel Jones with Claiomh Solais, the fiery blade of justice.”

Gabriel Jones accepted the blade with a heavy heart. His mind however was enlightened just by touching its sheath. He instantly knew what God had in store for him. His life finally had new meaning.

I know its a bit brief but I wanted to establish a starting point for my three characters who will come together to fight the supernatural

The pieces are coming together

yeah I plan to use the creatures these three go up against as a precurser to the catastrophe so that they fit into the Captain Midnight Storyline as well.

Thanks, more to come but first I'm going to finish Captain Midnight #3. Another precurser to the disaster that looms in the distance.

They aren't directly involved in the catastrophe that is to come but the intent of these is that humanity will already be weakened prior to the major event which is why it originally worked so well but that was before Captain Midnight was here to stop it!
