Question guys, which page did you think the art looked the best? For some reason I think my first few pages are never as good as the last few pages. I don't know maybe it takes me a while to get warmed up.

Personally I really liked the cover and I think page 3, the one that shows Hyde and Dracula's faces close up.

You could tell they were angry with each other

Cool, I guess I think the last page came out better for me. I do seem to have better luck with closeups for some reason. For that reason I've been trying to start out with as large a image I can make and then shrink it a bit. I know that's a trick a lot of artist use.

One of my old art tutors once told me that when Illustrating a book it's a good idea to do the pages out of sequence that way the book will have a more even quality once put together in the right order. So your best work will be spread out rather then be all at the end of the book.

Although if your a Kirby or a Lee it wouldn't be an issue. But for us mere mortals it might work.

So I'm not the only one that has better days than others.

Tim,

Any ideas on when the next Deadlaw issue is going to happen?

In the current Captain Britain series (the one with MI13) they went up against Dracula who was being helped by Doctor Doom.

After reading the story its given me a hankerin for more Dracula so it reminded me that Hyde had fought Dracula.

So now I want more...please

Man, I want so bad to get to work on it, but I have been so busy. I may have to start on at least a page a week or something till I get it done.

Hey Tim just reread this issue. Still eargerly awaiting on Hyde and Dracula to finish the fight!

And can't wait to find out how much of Dracula's DNA is in Deadlaw's bloodstream!

I love rereading your stuff occasionally especially when its been awhile helps keep everything fresh.

I've been actually coming up with a lot of ideas for Deadlaw while on these kidney stone pain killers. I just have to reread everything I've done so far to make sure it doesn't contradict what I've already done, because I have what I hope to be a very cool story for Deadlaw's secret origin coming up.

Just now starting to come out of the haze though.

Midnight, reading your posts two years ago about hauntings around you, and I think of a character I'm using as a villain in my comics: Jack-in-Irons.  The legnd says that he primarily haunts the backroads of Yorkshire.  He's a giant covered in chains and the heads of his victims.  He carries a large spiked club.

So, um, don't go down the backroads.  But considering the rich mythology that's been developed in British history, I wouldn't be surprised if someone wasn't supposed to be haunting the main roads, too...

lol

That sounds like a cool character Shastab. Lucky for me I'm leaving Yorkshire in about 2 weeks and heading back to the States.

It seems everywhere has a deep mythological background with supernatural happenings. Its enough to consider the possibility that there is something else going on out there than mere superstition.

I wouldn't doubt it if your Jack-In-Irons wanders by my house at night

Actually, my username would be shortened to Shasta.  The B24 is a separate element (but it's not named after the plane).

I first read about Jack-in-Irons in Brian Froud's Fairies.  At the time, I had a supervillain who was a giant, who I had named Gargantuine (long i, not short, which I still don't understandwhy I did).  He was kind of my "big bad" (in more ways than one), but I realized that dynamically he was lacking and he couldn't hurt to have a retool.  So, I saw Jack-in-Irons and thought he was perfect, and switching from Gargantuine to Jack-in-Irons would make a better villain, anyways.  Since then, he has dropped in significance to the plot (I have another one I consider the "big bad", and that's part of a bit of a mystery seeded into the books).  Still, I have a lot of fantasy influence in my books, which seems to be what I gravitate towards.

But villains are great.  I've found that one of my stoies I had to write was a short little villain story for one of the complete monster types.  Maybe it's just in showing how despicable the characters can be, to make the audience want to see this person be destroyed.

Just a small update, I have actually started working on the next story. Trying to work on at least a panel a day. It's a slow going process, but I figure if I can keep moving forward I'll get there eventually.

I'm pretty excited about it as I get to explore how A.T.T.A the American Time Travel Association, Dracula, and World War II all figure in to the hidden origins of Deadlaw.
