I was working on the wiki section and have accumulated some fascinating data on the connection between Elvis Presley and Captain Marvel Jr. It appears that Elvis' haircut was inspired by his reading of Captain Marvel Jr. as a kid. In fact it's said that his collection of Captain Marvel Jr. comics are still located in the attic of Graceland. Even his jumpsuits and TCB lightning logo were inspired by Shazam.
A sketch of King Marvel, an adult version of Captain Marvel Jr. seen in Kingdom Come, drawn by Alex Ross. Resembles Elvis in a jump suit.

I had to do an article on Elvis Presley once for my local paper--I done my homework so I'm pretty sure I got my facts straight--and what I found out is different from what you said. I read that he got his haircut from Tony Curtis.

That's weird cause now that you mention it I seem to remember reading something similar. Could just be a popular legend, or maybe Elvis was a fan of both Tony Curtis and Captain Marvel Jr. That's probably more likely.
Compare Captain Marvel Jr. to Elvis
Here's a picture of Tony Curtis

Well I got my info straight from a book, not the internet, so I figured it would be more of a reliable source. But I don't know. Marvel's hair does resemble the King's.

I'd say Elvis like everybody else in this world was inspired by more than one source. We all tend to copy things we see others do.
It's also interesting to note Perry White was a big fan of Elvis on Lois and Clark the TV series.

Well Elvis fans certainly aren't rare. They're all over the place because Elvis was such a great musician. But it does seem kind of strange--you would expect to hear about him being an influence on others, rather than others influencing him. To be a person that was an inspiration to the King--Man! Now that's what I call a real honor.

Well Elvis was just a regular guy before he got famous. If you listen to some of his early performances on television before he would start singing, in his introductions, he always sounded so humble. I think that was part of what made him so popular. Not very many humble stars these days.
I'm a Elvis fan I'm working on getting every Elvis song ever made on CD. Got a stack of them so far.
Which reminds me do you watch Knight Rider last night? They were playing a Elvis remix song I've never heard of before. If that's on a cd I got to find it.

That's another show I haven't watched. I missed the first episodes, so I guess I'll wait till the reruns come on so I can start watching it. From what I hear its pretty good so I guess I should give it a try.
I need to buy an Elvis cd. Need to find me one with a lot of good hits on it. I'm working on creating a rock collection ((not real rocks, music) and what's odd is that I don't even have any of Elvis's music. 32 cds and none of it is Elvis. What's a rock collection without the King?

Yeah dude, you cannot go wrong with Elvis. I recommend you get Elvis 1's. It's got a lot of Elvis number one's obviously and plus it's got that remix song, "A Little Less Conversation". Then after that you might want Elvis 2nd to None. It includes Elvis top ten hits with the remix of Rubberneckin.
I really like this one though Elvis movies because it has a few songs on it that are really good but are songs you may not have even heard on the radio like, "Stay Away Joe"

I'm trying to collect all the classics too like the Beach Boys, Ricky Nelson, and Chuck Berry. I grew up with 80's hair bands but I've always liked the 50's. It's fast paced and rockin.

I don't listen to any of those guys, my style is more 70s and 80s, but I do have two songs written by Chuck Berry on cd, "Maybellene" and "Roll over Beethoven" but they were performed by other musicians.
I like that Elvis #1s cd. Got lots of songs on it. May have to get that one.
You know that's the thing about Elvis. If you want to listen to the best of Elvis, you can't just buy one "best of" cd. It takes more than that to cover all of his hits.

I've got another rock band's version of a Beethoven song on cd. Its called "Difficult to Cure." Its pretty good I guess. Just about everything I listen to is rock. Jazz is the only other genre I like besides that.

I like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. I guess that's kind of like Jazz.

I don't know what you call it. But I don't think its jazz.
My favorite band is Boston.

Boston is easy on the ears. Not my favorite, but I listen to them when I hear them on the radio.
As far as hard rock goes I like Skid Row, Guns and Roses, Van Halen, and mostly 80's hair bands. The older I get though the more I listen to oldies especially while I'm working. Got to have heavy tunes for the most part while I'm working out though.

Never listened to Skid Row or Guns and Roses. Van Halen I like though. I bought a 36-song 2 disc set of theirs for a 6.99 steal a while ago. I've been jamming to that. I like to listen to music that has good guitar solos. That's one of the reasons I like Boston. I have 3 of their cds, Greatest Hits, Third Stage, and Walk On--which is from the 90s. When it comes to 80s music, Aldo Nova may be my faorite. Considering hard rock though, I like the Scorpions best.

Funny thing is I can't name you any good bands that have come out in the last couple of years. I'm just way out of the loop on modern music anymore.
