“Wonderful” Jimmy Faulkner exclaims “now it is time I exact my revenge upon Franklin Harrier and his Enforcers!”
“Whoa, who said anything about going up against those guys?”
“Don’t worry, Christian, don’t worry with your new powers you will crush the Enforcers.”
Hercules Cole asks the question on everyone’s mind “how do with lure them into battle?”
“Easy” Melanie replies “we strike them where they are most vulnerable, Cyber-tech.”
With quizzical looks on their faces the newcomers stare at her waiting on an explanation. Jimmy obliges them by answering.
“The president of Cyber-tech is a man named Frank Hampton or as we know his real name to be Franklin Harrier. The company itself is legitimate however he uses some of its profits to fund secret projects for the Enforcers much as I used GARD to finance this little experiment here.”
“So basically we hit him in his money belt” Jessica speaks up.
“Precisely right, of course you know I have to remain behind in order to secure my identity. Unlike Harrier I don’t have the cops in my pocket so it wouldn’t do to let them know who I am just yet.”
“Alright team, let’s move out” Melanie orders taking charge.
As the five of them made their way across town to the Cyber-tech building Melanie gives them each a codename to use in order to protect their identities. Hercules Cole takes the name Voltage, Latanya Denmon becomes the Firefox, Christian Ajax becomes known as the massive Quake, and Jessica Dark takes on the name of Glacier. Melanie Neidich herself becomes the all powerful Bombshell as they arrive on the scene.
Bombshell motions them to fan out around the building and commence the attack. First she unleashes a barrage of energy bursts destroying the cars parked out front. Voltage teleports to the roof and overloads the buildings wiring with electricity plunging the skyscraper into darkness. As security guards rush out of the building they are met head on with Firefox and Glacier who use their abilities of fire and ice to keep them at bay.
“Okay Quake it’s your turn” Melanie shouts “bring the building down around their ears!”
Quake summons his geokinetic powers and slams his fist into the pavement. The ground breaks up and a ripple travels from his fist to the foundation of the building as a massive earthquake ensues. Cyber-tech begins to crumble as the new super villains move back to avoid the debris.
The Midnight Avenger swings on to the scene just in time to watch the building collapse and he immediately radios Milena on the headset “was your brother at work?”
“No it’s too late for him; he’s already gone home I just talked to him about twenty minutes ago why?”
“The Cyber-tech building just collapsed anyone inside is probably trapped if not worse. I already hear sirens in the distance, rescue workers are on the way.”
“Oh John, how could anyone destroy a building with people inside?”
Turning his attention on the threat at hand, John Dark fires a shuriken from his gauntlet aiming for the nearest villain. It glances off the rock surrounding Quake’s body and flies off striking a streetlamp causing the light to dim.
The rock covered villain turns his attention to the newcomer “looks like we got company guys!”
Bombshell starts barking orders to her crew to continue their assault until the Enforcers show themselves while she and Quake deal with the Midnight Avenger. John dodges an energy burst hurled from the energized hands of Bombshell but gets hit full force by a slab of concrete which just uplifted itself from the ground through Quake’s will.
“Who are you guys” he grumbles as he climbs back to his feet?
“We are the Kinetics” the energized blonde replies “and the real question is whose side are you on?”
“I’m on my own side” John swears as he extends his wrist blades preparing himself to fight.
“Then you are no use to us” she says as she surrounds her fist with energy and takes a swing at the vigilante.
Midnight back flips getting out of range of the energy punch and then jumps in swinging his armored gauntlet. Quake moves in to intercept him and the wrist blade stabs into his rock covered shoulder. The blade only goes in about an inch and the layer of rock protects his flesh underneath so he feels no pain.
“We are not here to fight you vigilante we only want Franklin Harrier and his goons.”
“Why do you think he’s here?”
The massive rock covered villain knocks him away with a rocky fist “because he runs this company.”
Meanwhile just across the parking lot Voltage, Firefox, and Glacier have finally lured out the Enforcers. Two men wearing armored suits and a cyborg that appears to be leading them arrive and open fire on the assailants. The cyborg moves very fast and carries a Spectre M4 submachine gun. He opens fire as soon as he appears and the three Kinetics have to spread out and take cover.
“Okay Powerhouse, Prototype take to the sky and pin these losers down” the cyborg shouts his orders!
The two armored ones comply and take to the air as their anti-gravity generators buzz to life. The Powerhouse lets loose a barrage of energy blasts out of his gauntlets while Prototype fires energy blasts from his helmet visor. Firefox sends out fiery blasts causing the two men to back away. Glacier forms an icy barrier in front of her to shield her from the next few blasts.
Voltage teleports behind the cyborg and hits him with a thunderous punch frying his electrical systems. The cyborg goes down quickly dropping his submachine gun. Then the electrical villain teleports up behind Prototype ready to do the same but as his fist connects to the armored suit an energy barrier flares to life absorbing the electricity rendering the attack useless.
Prototype turns towards his new attacker and activating the telekinetic generators in his gloves grabs hold of Voltage and slams him down into the concrete leaving him unconscious. Bombshell leaves Quake to deal with the Midnight Avenger and she turns her focus to their real targets. Firing an energy burst from her hands straight down into the ground she uses the recoil to catapult her into the air aiming for Powerhouse.
Wrapping her arms around him as his energy barrier kicks in, she absorbs the energy as if it were nothing. Then as his armor is left momentarily defenseless she hits him with an energy punch putting a whole in the back of his armored torso. The Enforcer losses control of his armored suit and the anti-gravity generators quit working as he plummets to the ground.
“You will not get away with this” the last Enforcer standing, Prototype, shouts as he retreats “Franklin Harrier will make you pay!”
Meanwhile the Midnight Avenger is still trading blows with the one covered in rock as the emergency rescue workers arrive on the scene. Quake’s fist grows in size as he absorbs some of the rock underneath his feet and he delivers a right hook to John’s jaw sending him reeling in pain. Dropped on his knees and panting the wounded Midnight Avenger tries to develop a plan for stopping this rock monster.
Firing the grappler from his gauntlets, he aims for Quake’s legs. The cable wraps itself tightly around the legs and John pulls with all his strength. The villain loses his balance and falls stunning him for the moment. That moment is all John needs for then he fires the other grappler wrapping it around his torso. Then he detaches the cable from his gauntlet and secures it with a tight not.
“This nearly indestructible cable should hold you until the proper authorities arrive” the Midnight Avenger tells his unconscious foe.
At that moment more sirens blared as patrol cars rolled into view. The Kinetics picked up their unconscious ally Voltage from the ground and fled the scene. The cyborg’s backup systems kicked in at that moment as did his teammate Powerhouse’s. The two Enforcers took off as well before they could be hindered by the police.
This left the Midnight Avenger and the Kinetic called Quake to face the authorities. As three officers stepped out of their respective cars they each drew their police issue berrettas and aimed them in the vigilante’s direction. He threw his arms in the air palm outward and stared at them for a moment.
“This guy’s not one of Harrier’s so you should be able to hold him for awhile” John says in irritation “you know you guys working for that scum disgusts me. What would your former police chief say if he were still alive?”
With that remark he fires his grappler to a nearby building and quickly ascends into the sky as bullets are fired in his general direction by the cops left on the ground. The officers take Christian Ajax aka Quake and place him in the back of a patrol car. On the way back to the precinct he regains consciousness and summons his power. A slab of concrete shoots up through the floorboard of the car killing the police officer. Changing the concrete slab into the shape of a saw blade he spins it around and lets it eat away at the cables tying him until they are cut away allowing him to make his escape.
Elsewhere the Kinetics regroups in an undisclosed location. They find their leader Jimmy Faulkner conversing with a jade clad female. He hands over the Gecko Diamond to her and she bows lavishly showing her gratitude for the diamond.
“Ah welcome back my Kinetics I trust your mission was a success?”
“Almost” Melanie replied “we brought down the building but Harrier didn’t show himself.
“At least he has suffered a big financial loss; it will take millions to rebuild his company. Meanwhile let me introduce you to the one that supplied us with the means for your transformations. The lovely Jade Scorpion.”
