Holy Dancing with the Stars, rumor, Batman!

Page Six reports that the latest contestant rumored to grace the parquet on the upcoming season of Dancing is Adam West. The star of the 1960s Batman series and current voice on the animated hit Family Guy is pushing 80, but sources say he's "in outstanding shape" and ready to dance.

The official cast lineup won't be made until Aug. 25, but a rep for West said he is "one of the people they are seriously looking at."

Adam West will always be Batman to me, but even he couldn't get me to watch,"Dancing with the Stars".

The only way I'd watch that show is if I lost all my DVDS, every other TV channel stopped working, and I hadn't watched TV in about 3 weeks. Oh and I guess all the theaters would have to had shut down, and all video games stopped working. And probably the internet would have to be shut down as well.

heh, heh. I suppose that means you'll never watch 'Dancing with the Stars'. I wouldn't either.

I never watch shows that feature singing or dancing like American idol. I just can't dance.

Give me a show with action any day of the week over a show where they sit and yap the whole time.

I'm still upset about that car racing show they canceled after 3 shows on Fox. What was the name of that show. Oh yeah it was called Drive and starred Nathan Fillion from Firefly. Man he was driving the most awesome Dodge Challenger from the 70's, they canceled that show but American Idol lives on.

I like action shows too. The ones I watch regularly are:
Smallville
Doctor Who
Supernatural
Heroes
Lost
24
Chuck

Let's see I watch
Smallville
Supernatural
Heroes
Lost

Burn Notice - you should check this one out. It comes on USA network. It only runs in the summer. Right now it's on Thursday night at 10 pm

Psych - not really action, but it's hilarious.
Same with Monk

And a lot of old TV shows on DVD. Sounds like I watch a lot of TV, but in the summer I don't watch my main shows in reruns assuming they even appear in reruns. Seems like if you want to see a show more than once you got to buy the DVD set, anymore.

Hmmm, I never heard of Burn Notice, I may have to check that one out. I know they'll be some new shows coming on this fall, something called Fringe and Life on Mars.

I saw the BBC version and it was pretty good. Not for the kids that's for sure, but it had great acting and good stories. This cop gets hit by a car and goes into a coma and wakes up in the 1970's. The whole time you never really know if he's really in the 70's or in the present lying on a hospital bed or both.

I hope the American version is cool.

I never saw it but I heard about how they ended it. I hate it when shows do that!! I already heard that the American version will end the show differently.
Posted:  16 Aug 2008 22:17
That's good. I'd hate it if they just did the same story with different actors.

Hey, I just saw this on Yahoo's front page. They've ranked the top 30 sci-fi movies of all time. a lot of those will surprise you. Especially number one.
Posted:  16 Aug 2008 23:01
I saw that. I thought the pick of Iron Man as the number one sci-fi of all time was a bit far fetched. I can see Star Wars, but Iron Man is too new to say it's the number sci-fi hit of all time.

Yeah, I agree. Check out this list: http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/gallery/topscifishows/

Oh I remember this one.

That Was Then'

If you blinked, you may have missed this short-lived gem of a sci-fi show on ABC. As Travis Glass (played by James Bulliard) turned 30 years old, he realized his life since high school was pretty much wasted. He envies his jerk brother Gregg (played by Brad Raider) who married Travis' dream girl, Claudia (played by Kiele Sanchez). Thanks to a wish, an electrical problem and an old Kink's song, Travis returns to 1988 to change the past. But everytime he hears the Kink's song again, he's catapulted back to the future to see how his changes affected the outcome of his life at 30. The show was canceled long before it had a chance to reach its prime. It ran in the fall of 2002.

Man I was mad when they canceled it. Stupid ABC.

They listed one of my all time favorites.

Quote:
'The Six Million Dollar Man'

Those famous words, "We can rebuild him, we have the technology," explain how astronaut Steve Austin (Lee Majors) becomes the "The Six Million Dollar Man." Austin is mutilated after a crash and a secret government agency replaces his now departed parts with super powerful mechanical limbs. Austin uses his new superhuman like powers to solve crimes and catch bad guys. Look for the classic episode when he battled Sasquatch, or Big Foot. The series began in 1973 and resulted in a spinoff series called the "Bionic Woman."

Number 24

'Wonder Woman'

"Wonder Woman" captures the number 24 spot on our list. Wonder Woman, played by the lovely Lynda Carter, is a believable super heroine who fought the evil Nazis during World War II. After the war, she returned to her island of women. However, during the last season, she re-emerges 30 years later when Major Steve Trevor's son, Steve Trevor Jr., enlists her to battle evil once again. OK, the writers did a poor job in trying to transport her into the modern day, but the show was good enough to cut them some slack.

They got that wrong. WW went to the modern era from WW2 for two seasons.

That list was very fascinating as Spock might say.

#21 Quantum Leap and #8 Doctor Who are two of my favorites. I never saw That was Then, but it sounded cool. So did Nowhere Man. I also disagreed with their choice for #2.
Posted:  18 Aug 2008 15:21
I can never get myself to watch BG. I think I'd rather watch the original. I got Nowhere Man on DVD. Watched the whole thing, but for some reason I can't remember how it ended. I'm guessing it didn't answer very many questions. It was a real good show to watch though. It was so eery. One minute life is normal for him, and the next even his own wife doesn't recognize him.

Quantum Leap is another show I love. That show was a lot of fun.
Posted:  19 Aug 2008 02:35
According to that list, Nowhere Man was canceled before they could answer all the questions. Too bad it doesn't come on tv, it sounds real interesting.

Quantum Leap is a great show. i watch it every night when it comes on.
Posted:  19 Aug 2008 14:39
I think there were some answers though now that I think about it. At least it was starting to make sense as to why his wife turned against him.
Posted:  19 Aug 2008 22:58
Huh. Do you know if that show still comes on tv?
Posted:  20 Aug 2008 15:40
Nowhere Man, that show you can only get on DVD that I know of.

Cable channels don't show reruns like they used to. I wish they did.
Posted:  20 Aug 2008 22:44
Quantum Leap still comes on. I'm thankful for that. Its too expensive to buy on dvd. The first season (containing about eight episodes) costs almost forty bucks everywhere i look.

I'll have to check out Nowhere Man.
Posted:  20 Aug 2008 23:46
I have one set of Quantum Leap I bought used, and the most aggravating thing about it is the music isn't there. Some episodes it doesn't matter, but other episodes have completely lost the original magic. Taking out the music takes out a huge tool the show had to make the veiwer feel like they were in a another time period.

Of course if you watch it on TV I believe it still has the original music. Copyright issues really stink. You'd think once a show used a song it would be part of the show forever no matter what format it was displayed on.
Posted:  21 Aug 2008 00:30
Music on Quantum Leap? I only remember hearing like one Foreigner song on there, and that was it, except for the stuff at the intro, so i don't think I would notice all that much if they took out the music.

Quantum Leap, Doctor Who, Journeyman...I've always been fascinated with the thought of time travel. Aside from my novel that I'm currently working on, I'm trying to write a story about this particular subject. Traveling back in time to see what has past; its so thrilling, man.

Cool, well I'm going to be putting my latest Time-Rider story up later today. Keep an eye out for it on the front page. Got to create a cover for it.

One episode in particular I noticed really needed the music on Quantum Leap and that was the episode where Sam lands in Vietnam and tries to save his brother. They played a lot of Vietnam era music on that episode that was missing on the DVD.

I'm a new member, so I never did read the TimeRider.

I did see that Vietnam episode. It was pretty good.

Take you a read when you get a chance. It's not shakespeare by any means, but I gave the old college try. http://superherouniverse.com/timerider/

OK. I'll check it out. I've always been a sucker for time-travel stories. In my own story, I've already created my character, and I have some ideas about what I'm going to do to him when I put him in the past, but my problem is...how do I get him there? I've also considered putting my main character into a time loop, having him relive the same day over and over again.
