The Lumberverse…

“Bout time” Daimyo snarled in frustration.

Daimyo and his small golem force arrived in the very spot where Cyborg had arrived hours before. He sent Dragoon and Ashigaru to scout the area while He rode Chimera above the tree line with the damaged metahound strapped to the other golem’s back. They methodically expanded their search area outward in a circle like pattern looking for signs of their prey.

Dragoon called them over to a cliff overlooking a mighty city. He pointed to where the cyborg had leapt over the side “he was here.”

“So where is he now” Ashigaru asked impatience clear in her voice.

“The city most likely” Dragoon replied.

Ashigaru brightened at the response. She had been in a fowl mood since she had been damaged but the thought of entering a technological city gave her an idea. She could seek out parts there to repair herself and the metahound.

The golems all climbed onto Chimera’s back and he winged his way down toward the nearest gate to the city. They resembled the locals enough to pass by unnoticed and entered the city with caution. Ashigaru immediately took off dragging the metahound behind her. Dragoon and Daimyo dismounted Chimera and the three of them split up to search the city.

Daimyo came across a castle in the center of the city and went inside. He found the throne room filled with denizens waiting for audience with the ruler. When the lord of the city emerged from a side chamber Daimyo gasped in amazement, he was the spitting image of the Golem-Lord! The G-Squad commander hurriedly ran up to the throne and bowed before him thinking somehow his liege had followed them to this other universe.

Elsewhere in the Lumberverse…

Dragoon and Chimera regroup after the former discovered the cyborg had entered a prison facility. They waited nearby unsure of their next move. Soon Ashigaru and the metahound returned both in near mint condition. The sword trooper explained that she had found a warehouse with thousands of mechanical parts with which to reassemble herself and the canine. Now the four of them simply waited for Daimyo to return and give them direction.

From the shadows of a nearby alley the assassin golem Vestige watched the others and mentally changed his plans. He would not destroy these golems as instructed. After Daimyo was killed, he would recruit the others to join him in killing the cyborg and then amassing an army to take over the Technoverse!

As he continued to watch, Daimyo showed up with a mirror image of the Golem-Lord flanked by several elite guards. The procession joined up with the golems and fanned out around the facility. As the cyborg and Xeela, the Silverback chieftain’s daughter, emerged from the prison they found themselves surrounded by enemies.

When the cyborg stepped out of the building he found he was hopelessly outnumbered. Pushing the Silverback girl behind him to protect her he stood his ground. He looked around at the golems and the guards of this world scanning each one with his eye hoping to find a way to break through their lines.

Just then a piercing war cry sounded just outside the city gates and the startled warriors all turned toward the sound. The cyborg used this second to grab the girls arm and drag her down the nearest alley. Daimyo shifted his gaze back to his prey and swore as he saw him getting away. He assembled his golems and headed off in pursuit.

The ruler of the city ordered his own warriors to secure the gates from the inside while he himself went to the wall to see what was going on outside. As he approached the wall he saw one of the giant constructs fall. Several Silverback warriors were upon him bringing him down. It looked as though the whole tribe was at his gates pounding away at his robots. Then several thunderbolts lanced out from a wooden staff held by the shaman Kargoth. The lightning disintegrated the East gate in seconds.

Azaroth made his way to the front of his warriors and stood face to face with the city’s ruler “I want my daughter back Tek’ul!”

“Do you really think your tribe of primates can defeat my soldiers?”

With that Tek’ul unholsters his tazer baton and swings it at Azaroth’s head. The gorilla-man’s superior agility allows him to roll out of the way unharmed. The Silverback’s massive legs connect with the back of Tek’ul’s head knocking him forward.

Just down the street another battle is waging. The cyborg and Daimyo stand toe to toe in a darkened alleyway. As the other golems surround him, the cyborg remembers the small pistol he has in the pants pocket underneath the uniform. He quietly draws it out not bringing attention to his movements, but Daimyo is too happy with himself to even notice.

“You have led us on quite a chase Bob! It is time for you to die!”

The cyborg fires the pistol striking Daimyo in the chest melting his armor. The recoil hit with such an impact that the cyborg went reeling backwards in the opposite direction. Daimyo looked down at his bleeding chest and collapsed mouthing the words “you will not escape brother.”

The other golems stare at the dying Daimyo in shock, they had no idea he was human. He never removed his armor in their presence. They all felt betrayed by the Golem-Lord. How could he allow a fleshy to lead them?

As they were distracted Xeela slammed her muscled arm into Ashigaru’s back causing her to stagger. The sword trooper recovered quickly and activated her pulse blade. She advanced on the Silverback slow and calculating. The cyborg now called Bob emerged from the shadows and aimed the pistol at Ashigaru.

Before he could get off the shot however Dragoon placed the cold barrel of his pulse rifle to the back of the cyborg’s head. The metahound howled with glee hoping to get a chance to tear into the cybernetic legs. However that was not to be. Azaroth and his tribe arrived and disarmed everyone then tied up the golems. Then the chieftain took his daughter’s hand and led her out of the city.

The shaman, Kargoth thanked the cyborg for his help by giving him a small device and then he too left the city following the rest of the tribe. The cyborg slipped away before the golems had a chance to free themselves.

Vestige left the shadows and freed the golems. He then proposed an alliance to take down the cyborg and the Golem-Lord. They readily agreed.

Epilogue…

The cyborg strapped the small object Kargoth had given him to his leg. It was the taser baton that Tek’ul had used in his fight with Azaroth. Bob as he was trying to get used to calling himself decided to search the city for any parts he could use to upgrade himself before jumping again. The rift band beeped fifteen minutes ago signaling it was ready.

Tek’ul himself had died at the hands of Azaroth near the East gate dealing a major blow to Mecha City and its metal denizens.

Vestige and the other golems ransacked a nearby weapons depot arming themselves in preparation for what was yet to come.
