Decided to go with the title Defenders of Justice with the team itself having no official name. It's basically going to be so I can write individual stories for each hero or team them together for larger threats that way I don't have to stick to the team concept all the time. Anyway I wanted to post all my characters for the book in this thread with a brief description of their origins/powers.
Gabriel Jones was a homeless man who slept in the Cathedral. He was approached by the archangel Michael bringing a message from God and given a magical sword named Chrysaor. Inscribed on the hilt was one word, Justice. When evil approached and Gabriel pulled the sword from its sheath he would sprout angel wings, gain the ability to fly and heal rapidly. The blade itself would then become surrounded in heavenly flame and melt through most anything. He took the name of Raguel the archangel of justice. He now hunts angels and demons alike to hold them accountable for their misdeeds and he issues punishment for their transgressions.
A nuclear submarine, the USS Exodus, was deep in the Pacific Ocean working on a top secret project known as Genesis. During the experiment scientist Xavier Cross was working in the lab with Chief Petty Officer Luther Vanguard acting as an observer. The highly volatile Genesis Formula was exposed to too much radiation when the nuclear reactor started to leak and the formula exploded! The scientist and the chief were exposed to the toxic fumes and passed out. The submarine sank with the entire crew onboard. Luther woke up and began pounding on the hatch leading out of the lab. He pounded it in frustration and it went flying as if it was hit with a wrecking ball! Not thinking twice the chief grabbed Xavier and found oxygen tanks. Strapping one on Xavier then one on himself he carried the unconscious scientist as he searched for any other survivors. The entire crew seemed to have been vaporized by the nuclear explosion! How had the two of them survived? With no time to lose Luther then began pulling the scientist out and swimming towards the water’s surface. He burst through with such speed that he literally leapt into the air and stayed there. He was flying! Carrying Xavier Cross he headed toward a small island to the north. When the scientist came too he began crackling with energy, surrounded by electricity, then the two of them teleported back to the United States! Something strange had happened to the two survivors of the USS Exodus. Luther Vanguard was debriefed at the Pentagon and then honorably discharged from the Navy. He decided to use his newfound strength and flying abilities to fight evil as the American Patriot. Xavier Cross spent months testing his new found electrical powers and found not only could he teleport but he could surround his fists in electricity resulting in a shocking thunder punch, and could fire off bursts of electricity like thunderbolts. He took the name Voltage and decided to join the American Patriot in his fight against evil.
Jessica Ambrosius is the latest descendant of the wizard Merlin. She is able to use magic to become one with the elements. She can take on the form of a Fire, Earth, Ice, or Air Elemental with the abilities to match their respective element. She has decided to call herself the Lady Merlyn in honor of her ancestor.
Weapons engineer Hercules Cole was designing a specially modified battle suit for the Army that he named Power Armor. When the government cut funding for his research Cole decided to complete the armor himself by getting grants from the scientific community. The end result was an armored suit that enhanced the wearer’s strength, surrounded itself with a protective energy barrier when the right buttons were pressed, gave the wearer the ability to fire off optical energy bursts from the helmet through voice activation, and gave the wearer the ability to fly through specially placed antigravity generators. Hercules Cole decided to test the armor himself instead of finding a test pilot which resulted in him accidentally foiling a bank robbery and being dubbed a hero by the media. Realizing the good he could do, he became known as Powerhouse the armored gladiator.
Melanie Neidich was born with special abilities which labeled her an outcast. Her body randomly absorbed stray kinetic energy acting like a solar panel. After too much energy was absorbed her body had to rid it by unleashing it as explosive energy blasts causing many accidental explosions in her neighborhood. Finally at the age of 17 she met a mysterious Druidic Monk named Zhang who taught her to control her powers. She learned how to stop her body from absorbing kinetic energy unless she wanted it too which in turn rid her of accidentally generating explosive blasts. Turning her powers into a weapon of good she began calling herself Bombshell and took to the streets as a crime fighter.
I know this is a little bit long but let me know what you guys think of my heroes/heroines...
