I caught this last night when watching the TCM movie channel. Forbidden Planet was on commercial free. The movie is 1950's sci-fi classic. A bunch of soldiers from the United Planets (Star Trek ripped that off) land on a planet inhabited only by a Dr. Morbius ( Marvel named a vampire after him) and his daughter. The Dr. shows the the skipper played by Naked Gun's Leslie Nielson ancient caverns created by a race of extinct super aliens named the Krell. I know I've heard that name somewhere before. Anyway the Krell created their doors out of you guessed it Adamantium steel. It was described as stronger than any other metal known, and when lasers hit it, it remained cool to the touch.

Now you know Marvel ripped off the famous steel that formed Captain America's shield, and Wolverine's claws from a old sci-fi movie starring that crazy Naked Gun guy.

I looked it up on wiki and they too back me up. So apparently the mysterious material really was created in the 50s for a sci-fi movie. Go figure.

Wiki says -
In the 1956 Science Fiction film
Forbidden PlanetDoctor Morbius mentions "Adamantium Steel", predating any mention of the substance in Marvel Comics.

Now I know what I need to do for my Time-Rider comics. Just start watching old sci-fi movies for my ideas.
