Anybody remember that Annual series DC did about 10 years ago I think called Legends of a Dead Earth? It takes the DC universe into a far future where heroes are only legends, the Earth has died, and it's descendants were scattered across the cosmos. I thought it was a very interesting concept. Some of the Annuals worked better than other, but the concept is fascinating. This is what sci-fi is made for to take us places that could be, but that are beyond are reaches by the boundaries of time or by the distance of space. If you haven't read any of the issues pick up a few in the cheap boxes in your local comic shop. Sometimes they pop up from time to time. There's a few here. Legends of a Dead Earth
